Kay Marsh
Kay Marsh, 67, aka Margo Hobbs, of Naalehu died May 6, 2018, at Hilo Medical Center. She was an entrepreneur and started many nonprofit businesses in her community including Aloha Montessori Preschool and Margo’s Corner natural foods co-op.
A celebration of life will be from 1-5 p.m. June 3 at her house in Mark Twain.
She is survived by daughters, Cody Marsh and Ariel Daniel; son, Travis Marsh and four grandchildren.
Brayden Martin
Brayden Tsutomu Kamana’okekai Martin, 28, of Hilo, died May 13, 2018, at Kona Community Hospital. Born on June 13, 1989, in Lihue, Kauai, he was a security officer for Royal Hawaiian Orchards and an avid fisherman.
Visitation will be held at 4 p.m. June 2 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo and a celebration of life will begin at 5 p.m. Casual attire.
He is survived by his companion, Tiare Souza-Tavares of Hilo; daughters, Shaylece Martin and Sharlet Martin of Hilo; mother, Richelle Kaluahine of Kapaa, Kauai; father, David Martin of Oahu; brothers, Tristian Taeza and Kaden Kaluahine of Kapaa, Kauai; maternal grandfather, Richard Sugimura of Kalaheo, Kauai; maternal grandmother, Patti Ichida of Honolulu; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pearl Garmon
Pearl “Aunty Ulu” Ulunuiokamamalu Kanakaole Garmon, 83, of Waimea, died May 10, 2018, at home. Born in Hilo, she was a DOE East Hawaii SpEd Title I specialist and a Hawaiian cultural consultant for various agencies including the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, Queen Liliuokalani Childrens’ Center, Hui Malama Ola Na Oiwi, Hui Malama I Na Kupuna o Hawaii Nei, Hui Hoola O Na Nahulu O Hawaii, Lokahi Treatment Center, North Hawaii Community Hospital, and Big Island Substance Abuse Council.
Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. May 30 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo for a 7 p.m. service. Visitation will continue from 8-10:30 a.m. May 31 at the mortuary. Service will be at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at Hawaii Veteran’s Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire.
She is survived by sisters, Edith Leinaala Kanakaole Floyd, Pualani Kanahele and Nalani (Sig Zane) Kanakaole; sons, Gary (Theone) Tristam Kupaamakaokaaina Garmon of Waimea and James Jason Kenao Garmon of Waimea; daughters, Shirleene Ulunuiokamamalu Garmon of Hilo, Nalani (Kevin Anderson) Garmon of Hilo and Leiola (Tony) Garmon-Mitchell of Waimea; hanai children, Malia Kama of Waimea, Kalena (Ricky) Mahi of Kohala, Liana (Shannon) Aveiro of Kawaihae, Keala (Shari-Ann) Drummondo of Kawaihae and Wayne Fernandez of Waimea; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren.

Jacinta Balangatan
Jacinta Viernes Balangatan, 81, of Hilo, died May 7, 2018, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Ilocos Sur, Philippines, she was a factory worker for a Macadamia Nut Company.
Friends may call from 5-6 p.m. June 1 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a 6 p.m. funeral service. Casual attire. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. June 2 at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section.
She is survived by daughters, Emily (James) Hirayama and Felisa (Tim) Crawford of Santa Clarita, Calif.; son, Jimmy (Flo) Tabilang of Hilo; and four grandchildren.

Dorothy Prieto
Dorothy Abac Prieto, 87, of Honokaa, died May 3, 2018, in Keaau. Born in Paauhau, she was a devoted wife and mother and she was a self-employed housekeeper and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa.
Friends may call from 8-10 a.m. June 2 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa for a 10 a.m. celebration of Mass. Casual attire, flowers are welcomed. Burial will be at the Honokaa Catholic Cemetery
She is survived by sons, Randall (Vicki) Prieto of Kauai, Patrick (Sandra Ah Ching) Prieto of Honokaa and Phillip (Karmen Kealohi) Prieto of Mountain View; brother, Richard Basque of Hilo; sisters, Lorraine Von of Honolulu, Lorinda Abis of Keaau, Leonora LaVoie of Hilo and June Hernkind of Oak Harbor, Wash.; one sister-in-law; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

George Dickson
George Evelyn Woods Nehenuiikalani Dickson, 66, of Waimea, died May 16, 2018, at Hale Hoola, Honokaa. Born July 10, 1951, in Honolulu, Oahu, he was a member of the Hawaii Film Industry Union Local 665 I.A.T.S.E., a stage member of C&K and the Mackey Feary Bands, a food and beverage salesman, a cowboy-ranch hand for the Nobriga Malua Ranch and a past member of the Hui Nalu Canoe Club.
Private services will be held.
He is survived by daughters, Maile McCoy of Fayette, N.C., and Kamuleilani G. (Cooper) Knapp of Honolulu; son, Kamalalawalu W. K. Dickson of Honolulu; sisters, Irene K. Biehn of Aiea, Angeline D. Hind of Honolulu, Evelyn K. (Tab) Long of Kihei; brothers, Ma‘ulili W. G. (Edith Kawai) Dickson of Waimea, Charles E. N. (Haunani Burns) Dickson of Honolulu, five grandchildren and the Dickson ohana.

William Cunningham Sr.
William Alfred Todd “Mr. C.” Cunningham, Sr., 91, of Hilo, died May 21, 2018, at the Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Facility in Hilo. He was born in Hilo, Hawaii on Dec. 10, 1926, and was retired from the County of Hawaii as a clerk at the Hilo Municipal Golf Course. He was a World War II veteran serving as a private in the U.S. Army.
Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church (43 Kapiolani Street) in Hilo on May 30, 9-10:30 a.m.; funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No.2 in Hilo. Casual attire is requested.
He is survived by wife, Lillian Cunningham of Hilo; daughter, Lolette (David Kennedy) Cunningham of Kahului; sons, Russell (Gina) Cunningham of Las Vegas, Nev., Duane (Charli Bailey) Cunningham of Kona, Ivan Cunningham of Hilo and Clayton Isa of Pepeekeo; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
